You can live in joy and delight, grace and ease, if you understand how your thoughts and feelings interact with your physical form. The mind and body thrive when there is fun and freedom of choice. You can play with thoughts, feelings, and words, or join creatively with others. It is possible to adopt a wide band of vision and keep your eye on what you want. By appreciating what you have in your lap, you can hand it to yourself. This approach helps you avoid the media jawbreakers and tongue-wags who make your teeth hurt and gum up your systems. You just turn your other cheek to the negative news purveyors who, out of habit or to fill a perception of lack of revenue, spread psychic epidemics on the world.

The Science of Perception
Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys produced a widely popular song in 1966 titled “Good Vibrations.” It is lyrically and musically one of the most beautiful and innovative melodies. The tale follows a young man who finds himself “picking up” good vibrations while observing a young lady. He sees the colorful clothes she wears and the way the sunlight plays upon her hair. He hears the sound of her gentle word on the wind, and his olfactory sense delights in the scent of her perfume through the air. Wilson describes sensory interpretations of vibration: varying wavelengths we perceive as sound, visible things, or scents. His lyrics are elegant insights into a universal truth: to be is to interact with waves of energy.
Physics revealed in the 1930s that physical matter is made of light, waves vibrating or oscillating at one frequency or another, fast or slow. Those waves take place in time and space, or we would not perceive them as waves, or processes that manifest also as sound, light/colors, fragrance, or even thought and imagination that create emotions. Physical particles are slowed-down light waves; subtler waves require percipient insight, such as intuition. Every cell in the human body, made of such slowed-down-into-physical-matter light waves, receives all personal thought vibrations—even impersonal, as thought exists already in a collective field. So when you entertain those that seem to come from out of nowhere, you begin to think them, or think they think you. DNA is eavesdropping on every thought.
Harmonizing the Internal Environment
Thoughts produce emotions that cause the body to manufacture chemicals, for every cell is a chemical lab that monitors thought and emotion. The authors in Thoughts, Attitudes & Your Health describe how your thoughts influence your health. Thoughts carry vibratory frequencies. Consider the Schumann resonance frequencies of the earth if you would understand that environment is a sea of varying vibrations, 24/7. Self-governance involves choosing thoughts that produce the ideal health, personally and for the collective. You can imagine that government where all are in integrity with their thinking processes. You might say democracy is on the chopping block, yet as Albert Einstein discovered, “Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination adopts the entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution.
Creating a new world requires evolution of human consciousness. Brian Wilson’s sensory perceptions, thoughts, and feelings about a wonderful girl he beheld brought his body to a felt sense of “excitation.” He wrote that he closed his eyes and in his imagination received “good vibrations.” He chanted, “My, my, my, what elation.” His focus on this young woman’s beautiful qualities amplified the exhilaration he felt. It wasn’t the girl’s thoughts and feelings of love toward Wilson that affected him; it was his thoughts and feelings of appreciation and admiration toward her that resonated through his body. He was “picking up” good vibrations from his own thoughts and imagination. These created the healing power of good vibrations in his body. He created an ocean of love around himself, generating a joyful personal reality.

For the average person, handling a world filled with anxiety and fear requires filtering what isn’t personal. You have to sort through emotions or thoughts from “outside” and allow them to pass through, giving them no power. You learn about self during quiet time. Which thought leads to which emotion? What is preferred? What value is being here, as a human? What gifts have you discovered or seen revealed? Do repeated emotions awaken you or drag you down? Masters of this life, first thing upon awakening, breathe deeply—and do so throughout the day. They express deep gratitude and admiration for life. Breathing oxygenates cells and recalls you to the present moment when your mind wanders; appreciation enhances your immune system.
